Insert Page Content Widget

Sometimes you want to add information on the front (Home) page of your site or on a Page Sidebar. One easy way to do this is with the Insert Page Content widget.

With this widget you can create a page just like any other page and then place that content on the Home page or in the sidebar of a page.

First things first: Create the Content

Create a page and include the content you want to display. This could be text, images, lists, links or anything you can normally place on a page. Even Video.

Set the Widget Options

From the Dashboard choose Appearance > Widgets.

  • Open the Widget area where you want the page to show. For example if you want the page content to show on the left side of the Home Page you would open the Home Left area.
  • Find the Insert Page Content widget in the Available Widgets area and click/hold and drag it to the open Home Left area and drop the widget.

  • AGive the Widget a Title –
    this will show on the Home Page
  • BChoose the page you want to use for this widget. This can be any page in your site including Hidden Pages (see more on hiding pages below)
  • CDecide what pages you want this content to show on.
    • For the Home Page leave it at All pages (it will only show on the home page)
    • If this is for a Page Sidebar, choose which page it is to be shown on. If you want to show in the sidebar of more than one page, you will have to repeat this procedure and bring in a second widget.
  • Click Save. You now have a widget showing what content you wanted in the place you wanted.

Hiding Pages

If you do not want a page to show in the Navigation, you can create the page and then hide it in pageMash.

To see pageMash, in the Dashboard select Pages > pageMash

You will see something like this:

To hide a page hover over the >> at the end of the page name. You will see the options to
[edit] [hide] [Rename]

 

By clicking on hide, you will see the name of the page grey out.

To save the changes hit Update. It will then tell you the Database is updated.

The page is still viewable with an Insert Page Content widget or by linking to the page.
